Finn Balor has now become a two-time NXT Champion. The title was declared vacant in August as the former champion Karrion Kross had to relinquish the belt due to a separated shoulder he suffered during his title win over Keith Lee at the “Takeover: XXX” show. Wishes and greetings poured for Balor after the title change happened on the campus of Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

Next week’s WWE NXT episode will return to the normal Wednesday timeslot on the USA Network. NXT North American Champion Damian Priest will be undergoing his first title defense against Timothy Thatcher. Priest won the vacant NXT North American Title at “Takeover: XXX” last month. On last night’s show, Thatcher and Priest traded shots through promos in separate segments after which the match was officially announced for next week.

Next week’s episode will also feature WWE NXT Tag Team Champions Breezango defending against the former champions, Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner of Imperium. The team of Fandango and Tyler Breeze defeated Imperium for the titles on the August 26 NXT episode, and thus it will be their first title defense, also marking Imperium’s rematch.

It was also announced that WWE NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai will also be in action next week in a non-title contest against Shotzi Blackheart. This week’s NXT featured a segment where Blackheart and Shirai teamed up to take out Robert Stone and Aliyah. They joined forces to fend off Robert Stone Brand, but the segment ended with Blackheart and Shirai sharing some tensed moments and teasing the match. Shirai also warned Blackheart uttering, “Don’t make me hurt you!”
