WWE NXT TakeOver: Top Titles Matches Teased For Wrestlemania 37 Week

NXT General Manager William Regal opened this week’s NXT broadcast on the USA Network confirming WWE NXT Takeover: Stand and Deliver for the Wrestlemania 37 week. It will air on Wednesday, April 7, and Thursday, April 8. Night 1 will air as the weekly NXT episode while Night 2 will be a WWE Network special. While no matches for the upcoming show have been announced, several teases were made on the upcoming feuds.

Both the WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor and NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai have been booked for their next title feuds for the next WWE NXT TakeOver. This week’s opening match on NXT saw Shirai retain the NXT Women’s Title over Toni Storm. Shirai applied the Crossface submission on Storm after the latter missed a Flying Headbutt to pick up the win.

Following that win, Shirai later confronted Raquel Gonzalez in a backstage segment and declared that she wants her next. A Gonzalez vs. Shirai title match was first teased a few months back but it never took place. Regal introduced the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles and crowned Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez as the inaugural champions (as a result of their inaugural Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament win).

Later in that night, Dakota and Raquel lost the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles to the team of Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon. It seems that the first-ever women’s tag champs lost the belt as WWE wants to insert Gonzalez into the singles title picture, right away.

Balor vs Kross could happen at WWE NXT TakeOver

NXT Champion Finn Balor has also confronted his potential opponent for WWE NXT TakeOver, last night. This week’s NXT main event saw Balor retain the NXT Title over Adam Cole, due to interference by Kyle O’Reilly. After the match, O’Reilly attacked Cole as Balor watched from the ring. Karrion Kross then appeared next to Balor in a staredown to send the show off-air. Back in the summer of 2020, Kross had to vacate the NXT Title due to injury after which Balor capitalized and won back the title.

That being said, it looks like Gonzalez vs. Shirai and Kross vs. Balor may take place at the WWE NXT Takeover: Stand and Deliver event on Wednesday, April 7, and Thursday, April 8 during WrestleMania 37 Week. Even NXT head honcho, Triple H teased Kross vs. Balor and Cole vs. O’Reilly for TakeOver in a post-show tweet.
