It’s been three years since the daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Simone Johnson has been a part of the WWE NXT scene. Debuting on the show, last year, this week finally marked her first televised match on the brand. It wasn’t a singles outing but rather a tag team match where it was the young Johnson who picked up the pinfall win.
Competing for the first time on WWE NXT under the name of Ava Raine, Johnson has finally scored her first victory in her professional wrestling career. During the June 6 episode, Raine teamed with The Dyad (Rip Fowler & Jagger Reid) to take on The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile of Diamond Mine in a six-woman tag team action.

The finishing sequence of the match on WWE NXT saw Raine headbutting Nile with her mask while the referee was distracted by Reid on the other side of the ring. Raine then easily pinned Nile to steal the win on her group’s behalf.
Ava Raine started training on WWE NXT in 2020 spring
Ava began working with WWE in 2020 as she started her wrestling training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. She was expected to make a quick on-screen debut which was postponed due to two separate knee surgeries. Finally, she debut in October 2022 on WWE NXT by revealing herself to be a member of the group Schism. Since then, Ava has been a regular feature of this group also consisting of Joe Gacy and The Dyad — Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid.
Ava once competed at NXT Stand & Deliver
WWE recently shortened her name and made it simply Ava to signify her moniker, down the road. Earlier this year, the 21-year-old made her in-ring debut on the kickoff show of WWE NXT Stand & Deliver in April, teaming with the rest of Schism to take on Tyler Bate and Chase U, including Nile. That feud is still going on as Ava is targeting Nile.
Down the road, Ava is expected to feature in a singles contest against Nile on WWE NXT. This could be her overall fourth match in the WWE. Apart from last night and the April PLE match, Ava has participated in two more matches during NXT house shows in April.
