It seems like one of the touted future superstars from the female roster of WWE NXT Ava Raine is set to make her singles in-ring debut. For those who are yet to be acquainted with Ava, she’s better known as Simone Johnson, the daughter of the legendary Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
During the latest episode of WWE NXT, fellow AEW roster member and current rival Ivy Nile had some strong words thrown at Ava, essentially laying out a challenge for her to meet her in a match in the ring, in next week’s episode. Ava is yet to accept the challenge but the belief is that the match will eventually take place which will be her second-ever televised match and her very first singles contest.

Fourth generation Samoan family member performing on NXT
This will be a historic night as the fourth generation of The Samoan Dynasty will be finally seen in a one-on-one in-ring competition on WWE NXT. Ava, the daughter of The Rock, started working with WWE in 2020. After signing a contract, she started training at the company’s WWE Performance Center. Before making it to TV, she had to undergo a couple of knee surgeries which delayed her debut.
Ava is part of a nefarious faction on WWE NXT
Ava would then go on to make her onscreen debut in an October 2022 episode of WWE NXT, revealing herself to be a member of the group Schism. Since then, the 21-year-old star has been making regular appearances with the heel faction, which also features Joe Gacy and The Dyad — Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid. Ava joined the faction via a kayfabe storyline as Gacy took care of her when no one even knew her.

Following her WWE NXT joining, The Rock’s daughter got the in-ring name of Ava Raine like many of her WWE colleagues. The company thereafter shortened her name by removing her last name and simply making her Ava who made her debut on the kickoff show of NXT Stand & Deliver in April 2023. Teaming with the rest of Schism, she took on Tyler Bate and Chase U, and Nile.
Apart from this TV match, Ava also took part in a trios match at a WWE NXT house show in April. If she does compete in the speculated singles bout then it will only be the third match of her entire WWE career.
