Coming off the Draft episodes on Raw and Smackdown, this week marked a rather emotional episode on WWE NXT as they had to give farewell to a number of talents bound for main roster entries. This was also a big week which included a title match, an unmasking, a debut, and a title relinquish. Big things will continue next week as the brand will go through builds for its next pay-per-view outing, Battleground.
At this point, WWE NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes remains in the hospital after digesting a brutal spear from Bron Breakker. His long-time friend, Trick Williams is looking for redemption against Bron and he decided to call out Bron to lay down a challenge.
Bron and Trick came face-to-face on NXT
During this week’s edition of WWE NXT, Williams and Breakker had a face-to-face confrontation as Williams challenged him to a match. After an initial decline in fighting Hayes’ “mouthpiece,” some tough words from Williams made him agree to the match,
“Matter of fact, you get on out here. You keep running your lip if you want to. I’ll knock that tan off you until you’re black and blue.”

“You want to do this right now, huh? Guess what? Doesn’t matter what you want. Doesn’t matter what [the crowd] want. I’m calling the shots,” Breakker responded and confirmed that they’d indeed go into battle in what would be a preview of WWE NXT Battleground where Breakker will challenge Hayes for the NXT Championship, although the match is yet to be officially announced.
Since dropping his NXT Title to Hayes at WWE NXT Stand & Deliver, last month, Breakker turned heel. Last week, he delivered a spear to Hayes through the barricade and then powerbombed Williams to close out the show.
Moving on, a title match has been confirmed to go down, next week where Gallus will defend their WWE NXT Tag Team Title against The Dyad. This would be a rematch between the two teams which is expected to be highly physical.
WWE has also booked Dijak vs. Ilja Dragunov for next week while the NXT Women’s Title tournament will be underway. No participant for the tourney is confirmed but the final match will go down at Battleground, later this month.
