The shocking spree of releases continued on WWE NXT as a few veteran names were released from the company, last night. WWE issued a statement said due to NXT 2.0 changes, several producers, writers, and coaches were being released,

“With the continued evolution of NXT 2.0, we’ve decided to part ways with some of the staff based in our Performance Center. We thank them for their many contributions throughout the years and wish them the best.”

WWE Hall of Famer “Road Dogg” Brian James was the first name revealed, along with Sarah Cummins, who was working as the Senior Vice President of Consumer Products.

Sooner, long-time WWE NXT general manager William Regal, Dave Kapoor, Ryan Katz, Scott Armstrong, George Carroll, and Christopher Guy were released. Additionally, some of the performers from the WWE’s third brand, Hachiman, Timothy Thatcher, Danny Burch, and Cathy Corino were also released.

It was pretty shocking to see Regal leaving the company who has been an important name for the WWE NXT brand. He had been working as WWE’s Director of Talent Development and Head of Global Recruiting, being the main talent scout for the company for a long time. He also worked on TV as the NXT General Manager until the 2021 fall. Moreover, this departure put an end to Regal’s connection with the WWE which lasted for over two decades.

In an update, Fightful Select reports these latest Performance Center and WWE NXT releases were done directly to remove numerous Triple H hires from the company, possibly to remove his team during his recent absence. The release of Cathy Corino (Allison Danger), who was hired back in October is the only exception.

Another big release is Brian James aka Road Dogg who began working behind-the-scenes on the WWE creative team back in 2014. He was later promoted to be the lead SmackDown writer/producer in 2016 since resigning as SmackDown head writer following WrestleMania 35 in 2019. But after that, he began working with talents on their promos and character development in NXT. He also acted as a producer for the WWE NXT brand.

Following the release, James provided an update on Facebook on his condition,

“Guys, I’m doing well and I thank you for all the love. I’m gonna take a few days for my self and process this. God is still on the throne and will provide. It’s just business!”
