The long ongoing saga between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus has finally ended at WWE Payback 2023. At last night’s premium live event, the two battled it out inside a Steel Cage and it was The Man who stood tall by the end of the slugfest. In the opening match of the PLE, Becky delivered a Manhandle Slam off the top rope to put her bitter rival away.
Becky Lynch was the first Superstar to come out to open things at WWE Payback 2023 followed by her WWE Hall of Famer opponent. NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton was also shown seated ringside in the crowd for this match. In a huge spot in the match, Trish was hanging from the top of the steel cage upside down, and she was suplexed back down into the ring from up there.
Zoey Stark came out and she tried to help Trish by entering the ring, but it wasn’t enough. Becky took out Zoey with a Manhandle Slam and then delivered the above-mentioned Manhandle Slam on Trish from the top rope for the pinfall win at WWE Payback 2023. Trish seemingly suffered a nasty bump during the match as she was spotted with a swollen forehead in the match.

WWE Payback 2023: Zoey Stark turned on Trish Stratus
After the bout was over at WWE Payback 2023, Trish was furious over Zoey coming up short at her job in helping her in the match. So, she slapped Zoey and told her to get out of the ring. But Zoey closed the cage door and then laid out Trish with her Z-360 finishing move. It could have been a way to write off the Canadian legend off TV now that her feud with Becky is over.
After turning on Becky Lynch on the April 10 episode of WWE Raw, Becky and Trish first competed in a dream match at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia where Zoey Stark’s involvement cost Becky the match. The two then were part of the women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match in early July where these two prevented Becky from gaining the Money in the Bank briefcase.
Afterward, Becky vs. Trish was originally planned to go down at Summerslam 2023 but WWE reportedly scrapped that match due to time constraints. The two then duked it out in Trish’s hometown of Toronto which produced a No-DQ finish which led to this Steel Cage Match at WWE Payback 2023.
