The lineups for the Elimination Chamber PPV were started to set up from the night after Royal Rumble PPV. As per the early announcements from the general manager, Kurt Angle, the qualifying matches started to take place. Three matches were hosted on that night that earned places for John Cena, Elias and Braun Strowman in the Chamber matchup.
The series of matches continued on this past edition of Monday Night Raw. In two big matchups, Roman Reigns and The Miz captured their spots in the match, as well. Later, Rollins and Balor were added to the mix.
Plus, a main event triple threat match was conducted comprising last week’s winners with an interesting situation.
It was declared that whoever wins the contest amongst John Cena, Elias and Strowman will become the one to enter the Chamber at the very last spot.
It is a huge advantage for the particular superstars since most of the wins came from the last two spots.
Quite surprisingly, Elias picked up the win in a big way. While winning the contest, he pinned none other than John Cena which is the rarest thing especially considering that Elias is still considered to be a rookie player in the mix.
In a recent report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reason behind this huge win was declared. The veteran wrestling journalist said that it was a process of elevating the superstar’s level.

”As per reported by Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Radio, the actual reason why WWE let Elias pin John Cena is to help “The Drifter” get over with the WWE Universe and further solidify the on-going rivalry between Cena and Elias.”
In addition, Meltzer also stated as to why the creative team planned a destruction courtesy Braun Strowman, after the match. The behemoth was never pinned in this match nor in the championship match at Royal Rumble.
So, destroying both Elias and John Cena was just part of the process to look him stronger.
The officials do want him to head into Wrestlemania as the strongest force on the Raw roster. So, this momentum will definitely continue for him en route a big match at the biggest event of the year.
