ToggleWith the post-Summerslam edition of WWE Raw happening, last night, at least a couple of big returns were expected on the show and the fans weren’t disappointed, after all. As the injury season continues, WWE has a few members on their roster who are out of action due to injuries, or personal, or creative reasons. One of them, a former WWE Champion has been cleared for action and he’s back on board.
The Viking Raiders – Erik and Ivar came out during WWE Raw, this week and they issued an open challenge. They were expecting someone from backstage would accept the challenge but little did they expect one of the all-time greats to come out in the form of The New Day. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods came out in their theme music to excite the fans.

While Xavier Woods could have been seen in action, here and there in recent times, Kofi Kingston made his comeback from a long injury. It should be noted that the third member of the New Day, Big E’s return to the ring will have to wait longer, because he isn’t around and he’s also reportedly advised not to return to competition, ever again.

WWE Raw: The New Day coming for tag team titles
In their return on WWE Raw, the former unicorns easily defeated The Vikings. Then in a backstage interview with Jackie Redmond, The New Day also said that they’re coming for the Tag Team Championships held by Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. At this point, the latter is out of action due to an undisclosed injury and Zayn is the only one to continue a feud with Judgment Day.
Heading into WWE Raw, Fightful Select was the first outlet to reveal the returning scoop about the New Day. The trio of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and injured Big E were expected but E missed the occasion and the reason seems behind this seems pretty clear.
New Day members Big E may not wrestle ever again
Since 2022 spring, Big E has been dealing with a neck injury after getting suplex-ed on his neck by Ridge Holland in a match. He has since had neck fusion surgery, but no timetable is available for his return to the ring. Also, during the 2023 SummerSlam weekend, he revealed that some doctors have advised him to never wrestle again and WWE might just consider other non-physical roles if that’s available.
As for Kingston, he has also been sidelined for months from WWE Raw or Smackdown TV due to an ankle injury. His last match took place back in February in a match against LA Knight on Smackdown. Woods last wrestled in May and digested a loss to Dominik Mysterio on an episode of WWE Raw. Fightful Select also reported that they were scheduled to take on the Viking Raiders to renew a feud from last year which ended via a rare Viking Rules match on Smackdown.
