WWE Raw full results: April 18, 2016

WWE Raw was hosted last night from the O2 arena in London, England as Shane McMahon was in charge temporarily for a third consecutive week. The UK crowd was indeed happy to see “the money” running things and thy even got louder to see Ambrose hosting his own talk show “The Ambrose Asylum” with the guest none other than Shane-O-Mac. WWE’s Prodigal Son summarized his “new era” of signings with a simple mantra: “We have arrived.” After that proclamation, he was soon interrupted by Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn as they are still not over with the chaotic events from Smackdown. Shane sanctioned Owens vs. Zayn and Ambrose vs. Jericho for WWE Payback and evaded the ring before fists started flying.

Chris Jericho def. Sami Zayn
Last week on SmackDown, the interference of Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose landed Chris Jericho in the midst of a disqualification in the main event against Sami Zayn. So, this week Shane granted him the rematch and two Canadians went toe-to-toe against each other. Zayn had been in the driver’s seat for the entire contest, landing a Blue Thunder Bomb and tornado DDT through the ropes to stun Jericho. The dirty means came to play after he gave thumb to the eyes of Zayn to hit the Codebreaker and pin Zayn for 1…2…3 on WWE Raw.

Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady def. The Dudley Boyz (tag team tournament semi-final)
They have arrived in the scene just three weeks and Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady are one match away from their very first WWE Tag Team Title opportunity. They got past their first rivals in the main roster, the Dudley Boyz in order to march past to the finale of the tournament. A rowdy crowd in London expected nothing less than a win from them. A little miscommunication from the Dudleyz helped Cass to deliver the big boot while Enzo went airborne with the rocket launcher to finish.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson attacked WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns
The new WWE world heavyweight champion Roman Reigns was pretty happy with his new gig of not being the “good guy or the bad guy” but “the guy.” But, he received his first hit since then and from a pretty unexpected source on WWE Raw. WWE Universe was rooting for the number one contender AJ Styles and Reigns had a confrontation in the middle of the show with his challenger. But, it was the magic-killing tag team who worked with Styles before, delivered the beat-down from behind. The duo of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, previously known as “Bullet club” made their impact felt even bigger way by hounding the Big Dog in WWE. AJ was not happy at all with ongoing on WWE Raw.

Baron Corbin def. Fandango
Fandango was revisiting his good old days of dancing but that did not turn out to be as smooth as he thought. Fandango showed some impressive athleticism in his bid to take down The Lone Wolf, but he ultimately joined Zack Ryder on Corbin’s victim list as Corbin hammered his way with the End of Days. That was not all, Corbin threw Fandango to Ziggler who was present on commentary and finished off his night with another End of Days to Ziggler.

The New Day & Cesaro def. Intercontinental Champion The Miz & The League of Nations
Prior to the match, Cesaro was invited as the guest of the Miz TV with the Hollywood couple hosting the show. These two will now square off at WWE Payback for the Intercontinental championship. The Swiss Superman gelled well with the unicorns and even got into the stampede mode. The League briefly rallied by swarming Xavier Woods, but a late-game tag to Cesaro led to an Uppercut Express with four of the opponents seeing stars. New Day evened the odds outside the ring whereas Cesaro hit the neutralizer inside the ring to Sheamus for the win.

Natalya, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch & Paige def. Charlotte, Naomi, Tamina & Summer Rae
Natalya has officially earned her right to face Charlotte for the WWE women’s championship at WWE Payback and not only that she is on a roll after making the champion tap out in the huge 8 Divas tag team match. The Queen of Harts even saved the match for her team. Summer Rae was in firm control of the match when Charlotte decided to tag herself into the match only to get locked into the infamous Sharpshooter from Nattie and tapped out.

The Vaudevillains def. The Usos (tag team tournament)
The blast from the past tag team had a terrific encounter with the Usos in the Semi-finale of the tag team tournament. The Vaudeviallains incidentally earned a hard fought victory over the Uso brothers in their Raw debut. To finish the contest they took the most cunning way possible exploiting Jey Uso’s shoulder injury to set him up for the Whirling Dervish. They will now meet Enzo and Cass at the finale.

Apollo Crews def. Heath Slater
Ever since he showed up on Raw, Apollo Crews has been running through all of The Social Outcasts, one member at a time. This week Heathy baby fell victim to him. The one man rock band tried hard but that certainly was not enough to put Crews away. Crews picked up the win just as he had last two weeks, with the sit out powerbomb. After the match, the interesting part was the staredown between Crews and Owens which suggests Crews might have a bigger challenge coming in near future.

Dean Ambrose def. Kevin Owens
When these two old rivals get into the ring they don’t just wrestle, they fight. This one too saw no exception on WWE Raw as they picked up the pace right where they left it in the past winter. The brawl went outside the ring following a suicidal dive from Owens over the commentary table. Owens retaliated with a frog splash but failed to deliver a second one with Ambrose’s knee up. Just when it seemed that Ambrose will seal the deal with Dirty Deeds, his scheduled opponent at Payback i.e. Chris Jericho, came into the ring and left him down with a Codebreaker. Ambrose will look for his Payback, and that’s for sure.
