WWE Raw delivered the final episode before heading into Wrestlemania 35. Numerous fire-crackers were waiting for us as we had a huge announcement in the opening segment. The Universal Champion returned to the show to confront his challenger whereas a huge six-woman tag team match was the main attraction of the night. Stephanie McMahon kicked off WWE Raw with an announcement around Wrestlemania 35 main event. She started making an April Fool’s day joke that she is inserting herself into the title match. On a serious note, McMahon added that whoever wins the main event match on Sunday will get to hold both the women’s championships.
Brock Lesnar’s music hit the show as the crowd greeted him with loud boos. Paul Heyman cut his usual promo to state that Seth Rollins is an afterthought. The number one contender had enough of talks and wanted a physical confrontation. Lesnar hit him with a low blow but he fought back an F5 and countered with another low blow. He floored Lesnar with The Stomp before walking off.
Beth Phoenix was back in action on WWE Raw after 6 years. The eight-woman tag team match took place with the Team Divas of Doom and the Boss n Hug Connection vs. the IIconics and Nia Jax-Tamina lineup. All hell broke loose during the match that saw Beth Phoenix spearing Tamina through the barricade. She hit the Glam Slam on Peyton to pick up the win on behalf of her team.
Batista returned on WWE Raw prior to Wrestlemania 35 to a nice reaction from his hometown of Washington, DC. The crowd started chanting welcome back to The Animal who showed a video package for Wrestlemania 35 for his match against Triple H. Batista said, “Hunter, kiss my ass” dropped the microphone before walking him away.
A Lumberjack Match took place with the lineup of Jinder Mahal vs. Apollo Crews. It was a short match that Crews finished with a Frog Splash off the top rope. After the match, Singh Brothers tried to attack Crews sent them over the top rope.
Kurt Angle was about to compete in his final match on WWE Raw against Rey Mysterio. Prior to the match, we received a video package to celebrate the incredible 20-year career of Kurt Angle. Baron Corbin interrupted talk trash about him when Rey Mysterio showed up. Corbin went for a cheap shot but received a seated senton from Mysterio. Angle Slam followed up next on Corbin to end the segment.
The Revival defended their WWE Raw Tag Team Championships against Aleister Black and Ricochet. The high-flyer took out both the champions with an amazing flipping senton on the floor. Dawson grabbed Ricochet’s legs to force him to get counted out. Black then hit him with the Black Mass whereas Ricochet went to the top rope and hit the 630 on Dawson.
Roman Reigns was about to come out next on WWE Raw to talk about the attacks from Drew McIntyre. But McIntyre attacked him from the back and sent to the steel barricades to hurt him with just six days prior to Wrestlemania 35.
The six-woman tag team match was next on WWE Raw where Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Ronda Rousey teamed up against the Riott Squad. An added stipulation for the match was if Lynch, Rousey, or Flair attack one another, they have to forfeit their spot in the WrestleMania main event.
Lynch was in control of the match hitting Morgan with a Bexploder Suplex. Rousey tagged in and locked in the arm-bar on Morgan to win the match. She went right after Charlotte after the match as a brawl ensued. Police ran down to the arena as the chaos continued. The three women put their hands on the policemen and got themselves arrested.
Bobby Roode and Chad Gable vs. Heavy Machinery happened next on WWE Raw in a tag team match lineup. Lacey Evans provided the usual distraction by strutting out but Heavy Machinery hit the Compactor for the win. After that, Braun Strowman then squashed two local talents hitting a double powerslam on them.
Charly Caruso interviewed Bobby Lashley inside the ring who confirmed about not being concerned for Balor’s demon avatar. Balor soon appeared on the tron and sent a message to Lashley for their Wrestlemania bout before disappearing.
Rey Mysterio took on Baron Corbin on WWE Raw main event after what transpired earlier the night. Mysterio took control of the match hitting a beautiful springboard Hurricarana followed by a head-scissor tornado DDT. He connected with the 619 but missed the frog splash. Corbin hit the End of Days to pick up the win. Kurt Angle attacked him from the back to lock in the Ankle Lock on the ramp to close the show.
