Liv Morgan was enjoying perhaps the best phase of her career which started back in the summer of 2022. During this timespan, she became the women’s Money in the Bank briefcase winner, Smackdown Women’s Champion, and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. Unfortunately, momentums for her came to a sudden halt due to a sudden injury.
The 2022 Money in the Bank contract winner injured her shoulder during the May 12 edition of WWE SmackDown. Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez were defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles against Dakota Kai and Bayley when a stiff kick injured Liv’s shoulder. Interestingly, Kai also injured her knee during the match and got shelved with a ruptured ACL.
While WWE didn’t reveal many details about Liv Morgan’s injury, the WWE Raw Superstar herself spoke up about this during a live stream of the UpUpDownDown’s “School Out” YouTube channel special. Once again, she confirmed her injury by noting that she is having a “torn shoulder,”
“I’m like sitting at home with my torn shoulder and I’m like, ‘Wow, I’m really excited to win that UpUpDownDown championship, I’m really excited to beat Mace,'” stated Liv Morgan. “His kid just so happened to have a recital, I’d like to see that footage of that recital, just saying. So, you send your friend out [Mansoor], you know what, even with one shoulder, I’m still going to beat you.” (quotes courtesy Wrestling INC)

Liv Morgan had to give up tag titles due to shoulder injury
The injury forced Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to vacate the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. Last week, new champions were decided on the May 29 episode of WWE Raw via a Fatal-4-Way match. Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler became the new champions in that match after defeating Damage CTRL’s Bayley and IYO SKY, Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville, and Raquel Rodriguez and Shotzi.
WWE Raw: Becky Lynch Almost Didn’t Receive Mega Match At Summerslam 2022
Before giving up the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles due to an unfortunate injury, Liv Morgan and Rodriquez had been the tag champions since the April 10 edition of Raw. They had defeated Becky Lynch and WWE Hall Famer Trish Stratus (filling in for another WWE Hall of Famer and the original tag champ, Lita).
