On this week’s WWE Raw, Drew McIntyre was stunned by one of his closest friends in the locker room. It seems Sheamus could be the next in line for him to challenge over the WWE Championship after how the set of incidents transpired on the show.
The post-Royal Rumble edition of WWE RAW had an opening segment where Drew McIntyre was expectedly interrupted by WWE Hall of Famer Edge, who won the Men’s Royal Rumble Match, this past Sunday. McIntyre praised Edge while Edge mentioned that he will announce his WrestleMania 37 opponent soon, and the world will know. The segment then witnessed Sheamus come out and interrupt McIntyre and Edge.

Sheamus turned on his good friend, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre on WWE Raw
Sheamus opted to throw some jabs on Edge who left the ring before sending a warning to the WWE Champion. Drew McIntyre raised his WWE Title in the air and watched as Edge made his exit. Drew then turned around to a big Brogue Kick from Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior left the ring to the audience booing him, heavily and then posed on the stage as Drew recovered.
When WWE RAW returned from the commercial, Sheamus was seen interviewed by Charly Caruso in the back. The Celtic Warrior said he’s tired of getting known as McIntyre’s friend. Now he wants to come after the WWE Title. A new alliance between Sheamus and Drew Gulak was hinted at as they left the building together while Charly stared at them.
Charly then interviewed McIntyre later on WWE Raw. McIntyre noted that it would be an honor to face Edge at WrestleMania 37, but he’s not backing down from a family fight with Sheamus. If the former champion wants to throw away their 20-year friendship over the WWE Title, then so be it. The King of Claymore Country then declared that if Sheamus wants the match, he’s got it.
Sheamus responded to Drew’s promo on Twitter and wrote, “it’s on… friend. [Irish flag emoji] v [Scottish flag emoji]”
The WWE Title match between Sheamus and Drew McIntyre wasn’t officially announced on WWE Raw, till now. Chances are high that the match could be added to the Elimination Chamber PPV which is reportedly the next PPV event in the WWE calendar set for late February.
