In a bizarre set of actions on WWE Raw, we have received a new pair of WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Heading into the show, the former champions were set to defend their tag team titles but one of those got knocked out via a mystery backstage attack, setting the path for crowning new tag champs.
On the April 10 episode of WWE Raw, one-half of the former tag champ, Lita was attacked backstage by a mystery attacker. She was in no condition to compete in a match and hence was taken to a local medical facility. This led WWE to announce Trish Stratus be her replacement for the scheduled WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship defense on the show.
Then Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez defeated Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch (c) to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships in one of the marquee matches on WWE Raw. Taking control of the match, Lynch took out Rodriguez with a dive on the outside while her partner went for her chick kick finisher. But Morgan dodged the move and rolled up Stratus to secure the win on behalf of her team.

Liv Morgan pulled off her first tag title win on WWE Raw
With that Liv Morgan can now call herself a WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion after WWE Raw while her partner Raquel Rodriguez has won the tag team gold for the second time on her main roster run. Interestingly, they weren’t supposed to be next in line to win the gold after Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler won the Women’s Wrestlemania showcase, in a fatal-4-way capacity at ‘Mania.
Lynch and Lita had the WWE women’s tag team capture the titles for just 43 days after defeating Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai and IYO SKY) on the February 27 edition of WWE Raw. They were reportedly slated to be challenged by the Wrestlemania Showcase winners, Rousey and Baszler but they’re nowhere to be found on WWE programming.
Since entering the main roster, Morgan is the first tag team partner for Rodiguez. As for Morgan, the former SmackDown Women’s Champion had received quite a few tag team partners over the past several months, including Tegan Nox and even Rhea Ripley on WWE Raw. The duo earned quite the praise for their ring techniques and it will be interesting to see who steps up to challenge the new champs.
