Randy Orton joined the WWE as part of the most talented bunch in OVW history alongside the likes of John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and Batista. As a third-generation wrestler, he had not only taken forward the legacy of his family but created his own way of becoming one of the greatest superstars in WWE history. He has undoubtedly become a bonafide future Hall of Famer career.
Even after spending 20 years in the WWE, Randy Orton hopes to carve a long career like no one else if not the ongoing injury turns out to be a big issue. For those who don’t know, The Viper has been suffering from major back issues, and this is the reason he is currently out of action since dropping the Raw Tag Team Championships with Matt Riddle to the Usos in a Winner Take All match to unify the RAW and SmackDown tag team championships.
WWE Raw: Randy Orton’s Absence Caused Cancellation Of 2 Major Plans
Randy Orton has since been seen out of action and there’s a lot of backstage concern surrounding his health. The severity of his back issues goes way back and the latest one he is dealing with could also possibly be career-threatening.
Dave Melter recently stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that The Viper’s career almost ended in 2022. To protect him from further hurting himself, the creative plans were made to drop the tag team titles and keep them in a unified state, as noted by Meltzer,
“The tag titles were not going to be unified, and then… that’s when Randy Orton’s career almost ended.”
Matt Riddle has joined Randy Orton in a hiatus due WWE policy violation
The other half of Team RK-BRO, Matt Riddle has also been out of action since the fall of 2022. He reportedly suffered a WWE Wellness Policy violation test that in turn led to a suspension. From the end of 2022, he was spending time in rehab and thereby got forced to move into a hiatus just like his favorite tag team partner.
During a conversation on his One On One show, former WWE SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long talked about Randy Orton’s injury status. Long advised the top superstar to stay out of the ring and not come back just because he likes the professional wrestling business,
“Well, the thing I would like to say about that is Randy Orton – great friend of mine.. I honestly just hope Randy makes the right decision, you know. There are people like Edge, Kurt Angle, who said they were not coming back once they found out they had injuries and the doctors told them it’d be dangerous for them to return to the ring. And they came right back anyway.”
