Vince McMahon was the sole controller of WWE Raw/Smackdown TV shows since the beginning of these two programs. Things changed for the first time in the last three decades as he drew the ire of many due to a hush-money scandal in 2022. He was removed from the WWE’s board of directors’ position as well as the creative team head of the company.
Since then Triple H managed to retain his position to be the chief Content Officer of WWE Raw/Smackdown programming while Shawn Michaels is taking care of things on WWE NXT. It’s safe to say that The Game has brought fresh feels to WWE’s two flagship programming while NXT is lacking star power for the past few months.

There’re some recent updates regarding the future of WWE Raw/Smackdown following Wrestlemania 39. A new season usually starts in WWE every year after the Show of Shows gets over. New faces show up on both WWE’s red and blue brands via call-ups from NXT while sometimes old faces return to the company.

WWE Raw/Smackdown is getting new set and look
It appears that now that WrestleMania 39 is over, both WWE Raw and SmackDown will be revamped with new looks. According to The Wrestling Blog, WWE has been working on a new set/stage for both these shows since December and the designs will be made public in April/May. A new look for both shows could debut either after WrestleMania Hollywood or after the WWE Draft, which is rumored to take place in May.
Some more major changes could be there with WWE Raw and Smackdown finally getting separate world championships after a long wait of one year. Universal Roman Reigns defeated the former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 38 Night Two Main Event to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and since then we have only one top champion in the WWE on the Smackdown side.
Another change could be there if Vince McMahon wants to take over the creative, once again after returning to his role as Executive Chairman of WWE, earlier this year. He was seen backstage on the March 6 episode of WWE Raw While speaking during Sunday Night’s Main Event, Dave Meltzer discussed that appearance.
Meltzer noted that despite Triple H being in charge of WWE Raw, McMahon offered his advice which could be significant for the future,
“But, you know, Levesque is the one in charge. He was the one giving all the orders and everything like that, but Vince was there and whatever that means long run, you know, we’ll see.”
