Barely three weeks away in the calendar, WWE Raw will continue to build toward the Backlash 2023 pay-per-view edition. WWE always has plans to execute for the upcoming events and the post-WrestleMania 39 season is no exception. As for this week, they’re likely to deliver a big-time main event alongside the announcement of the Backlash main event match.
WWE will host its next premium live event Backlash in Puerto Rico on May 6 without the WrestleMania name attached to it. Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes from WWE Raw is expected to be the main event on that card in the absence of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. This could be the reason why Lesnar is working the event in the first place or else he stays out of the scene in this post-Mania season.
Is Top WWE Raw Superstar Indeed Thinking Of Leaving After Post-Wrestlemania 39 Debacle?
In an update to the situation, WRKD Wrestling has confirmed that this week’s WWE Raw will feature Brock Lesnar on the card who will accept Cody Rhodes’s challenge for a match at Backlash. Thus the marquee match for the first May PLE will be set in stone,
“Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar will be confirmed for the upcoming PLE “Backlash” during this Monday’s RAW.”
Cody Rhodes lost his main event match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. He was expected to stretch up the feud with Reigns but things changed after Lesnar attacked Rhodes on the post-WrestleMania episode of WWE Raw. It seems that ‘Mania main event storyline will resume when he’ll be done with Brock Lesnar at Backlash.

Huge tag team match booked on WWE Raw main event?
According to the WRKD Wrestling Twitter account, WWE Raw also has some massive plans around the main event of the April 17 episode of WWE Raw. This one will see Sami Zayn, Matt Riddle, and Kevin Owens taking on Judgment Day’s Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mysterio competing in a huge six-man tag team match. However, as always, the plans are subject to change.
The source further noted that we will see an interaction between The Bloodline and Judgment Day, possibly in the first hour of the show that will set up a match between Rey Mysterio and Solo Sikoa. The plans seem realistic given the current landscape of the roster. In the process, there will be a lot of builds available for the 2023 Backlash pay-per-view event.
