One of the most veteran WWE Raw female superstars, Carmella is back on TV after a long gap of more than seven months. After showing up on the post-Royal Rumble 2023 episode of Monday Night Raw, now she’s warming up for a title match opportunity. The moon-walking, trash-talking, “Princess of Staten Island” seems to be more than amped up to go into the bout.
Last Monday night, it was revealed by WWE Officials Adam Pearce that Carmella will finally be returning to the ring, on this week’s WWE Raw. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion will butt heads with three other superstars for the final spot in the 2023 women’s Elimination Chamber. “Michin” Mia Yim, Candice LeRae, and Piper Niven will be her opponents in a fatal-four-way match set for the February 6 episode.

The winner of this match will join Natalya, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nikki Cross, and Asuka inside the Elimination Chamber structure to solidify their spot on the WrestleMania 39 card as she will get to face Bianca Belair for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship. As her long hiatus comes to an end, it appears that Carmella is more than ready for her comeback to in-ring competition.

Carmella returned to WWE Raw, last week
During the January 30 episode of WWE Raw, Carmella appeared in a backstage segment to declare that she’d qualify to compete inside the Chamber structure on February 18 in an interview segment. Her statement was cut short, as Asuka emerged with a new look to interrupt. Carmella left the scene in disgust hinting that her “Princess of Staten Island” gimmick could also be making a comeback on WWE TV for the first time since 2017.
Despite being a former champion, Carmella’s booking hadn’t improved in recent times while injuries made things worse for her In August 2022. She sustained an apparent head injury in a Triple Threat match against Bianca Belair and Asuka on WWE Raw in the summer of 2022. Later that autumn, Carmella revealed suffering an early miscarriage in September, leading to treatment for ectopic pregnancy in October.
