There’s a believed curse upon the Women’s Tag Team Championships on WWE Raw and it’s probably not going to get away, anytime soon. Despite the efforts shown by one-half of the reigning champions, Chelsea Green, she’s having trouble finding a proper tag partner with whom she can defend the belt in the first place.
As seen on the September 4 episode of WWE Raw, WWE Official Adam Pearce announced that Chelsea’s current partner, Piper Niven hasn’t been cleared to wrestle on the show. This is the reason that Chelsea was forced to feature in a singles match on the show against a furious Raquel Rodriguez, who lost to Rhea Ripley at Payback in a controversial fashion.
As a result, Rodriguez let her frustrations out on Chelsea in order to squash her and also announced that she would get her rematch against Ripley on next week’s WWE Raw. Additionally, it was also announced that Dominik Mysterio will not be able to be at ringside during this upcoming match.

WWE Raw: Piper Niven dealing with an injury
As for Niven, she’s reportedly dealing with an illness that kept her out of this week’s WWE Raw. The good thing is that she’s expected to recover soon. As per the reports from Fightful Select, the remaining half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions will not have to vacate the title and will be fine due to the injury. But rather, Niven should return to WWE television in one or two weeks to defend the titles.
Over the past year or so, a curse halted WWE’s plans around the women’s tag team titles, constantly. A few title reigns ended because of injury, while some champions have also walked out of the WWE, altogether. Lita returned to capture the title earlier this year on WWE Raw but she was replaced by Trish Stratus due to an injury.
The next champions, Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan had to relinquish the title due to the latter’s injury. The current women’s tag team title reign has also been affected by injury as Chelsea Green’s original partner Sonya Deville had to vacate the title due to an ACL injury. Thereafter, Niven took Deville’s spot on WWE Raw, three weeks ago.
