WWE Battleground is over as we officially headed towards the new era of WWE, starting with tonight’s WWE Raw. With Summerslam just 4 weeks away from us, we got an idea of how WWE is going to intend post-brand split era.
We previously had a new logo for Monday Night Raw and as part of the reconstruction, we got a new video package with a new theme song prior to the show. There were a plenty of things that were yet to be answered and the biggest of them all was the treatment of the WWE Championship. As of now, there is no prime champion on Raw since the reigning champion Dean Ambrose has been drafted to Smackdown. So, the speculation for a new championship was running rampant.
Even treatment to other championships i.e. the US, Intercontinental and the Women’s title was also not known. Rumors also suggest that the reigning WWE Champion, Dean Ambrose will have the privilege to appear on both the shows.
But keeping all that aside Stephanie and Mick Foley announced that there will be a new WWE Universal Championship introducing at WWE Summerslam. So, to determine who will be competing for the title there will be two fatal-4-way matches on WWE Raw. The respective winners of those matches will lock head at the main event on tonight. The winner will face Seth Rollins for the brand new title at Summerslam.
Also, in addition, we got a WWE Women’s championship match between Sasha Banks and Charlotte. It was also announced that the Women’s championship will be staying on WWE Raw. Stephanie further added that it will be a historic night for WWE Raw tonight as we will be kicking a new chapter in WWE’s history.
