After a few days of speculation, the anticipated bout between two former Shield brethren has been made official for WWE Royal Rumble 2022. Seth Rollins vs. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns for the title was confirmed for the upcoming PPV during this week’s episode of Raw. This will be a co-branded match where a superstar from Raw challenges the top champion from Smackdown.
Rollins vs. Reigns was teased at the end of last Friday’s SmackDown, but the match was only made official for Royal Rumble 2022 on this week’s RAW that took place from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rollins announced that the match with Reigns and he also promised to win this battle which is now being billed as Brother vs. Brother matchup.

The Monday Night Messiah also pointed out how he defeated Reigns in their singles encounters in the past, most of the time. Hence, heading into this mega Royal Rumble 2022 bout, he remains the favorite name to win. Rollins also gained some momentums in his corner as defeated Big E in singles action on Raw. After trading strikes, Rollins nailed a Stomp on E to get the pin-fall win.
Since Rollins will be challenging for the Universal Championship, he will now have to appear for storyline reasons on the blue brand. In the absence of Drew McIntyre, his presence will make things up. In a vignette released by the WWE, it was confirmed that the new challenger for the title held by Reigns will be there on Friday night as they look forward to their next battle.
