Two of the winners of the Men’s and Women’s Rumble matches are not only crowned but they had also chosen their respective matches to set up Wrestlemania matches. At the same time, they are dealing with injuries.
Cody Rhodes returned from his pectoral muscle tear injury during the Men’s Royal Rumble 2023 match by entering the number 30 spot. Proving the betting odds right, he eliminated Intercontinental Champion Gunther, the number-one seed in the end to win the match and confirm his ticket to Wrestlemania 39.

With this win, Cody has earned an Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match in the main event of the Show of Shows and WWE has also confirmed his match against the champion, Roman Reigns. However, during an interview backstage after the match, Cody revealed that he suffered a minor injury during Royal Rumble 2023.

“Don’t tell anyone, don’t put it on a medical report, but I popped my eardrums. So, what a night not to hear that much. But I could hear them loud enough and it’s a beautiful moment.”

We believe that the injury of Cody Rhodes isn’t that fatal and it will certainly not have any impact on Wrestlemania main event match. The night after Royal Rumble 2023, Cody was featured in action in a singles contest against Finn Balor and picked up the victory, thanks to the interferences from WWE Hall of Famer Edge.
Rhea Ripley is also hurt from Royal Rumble 2023 matchup
From the Women’s Royal Rumble 2023 match, Rhea Ripley appeared to be the number-one entry and she also won the match. The Nightmare eliminated Liv Morgan (who was the second seed in the match) in the end to win and earn a Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 39.
Ripley then appeared on the post-Rumble press conference, where she revealed to get hurt during the 30-woman match,
“I’m obviously very beat up. My knees are not good in general. My knee dislocated for a second in the beginning, but it popped back in. If anything, I can smell blood in my nose.”
Capitalizing on her Royal Rumble 2023 win, Rhea Ripley has chosen Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair for a title match encounter at Wrestlemania 39.
