WWE Rumor: Clash Of Champions Will Be The Only PPV In December 1

Moving away from the concept of giving the fans more of PPV events in a calendar year, WWE might be planning for doing less. Previously, we used to get 12 PPVs in a year whereas the numbers have increased and reached to a figure 19, last year. This was a result of the brand split from last year’s July. Four of the PPVs were cross-brand ones whereas 15 were scheduled brand specifically.

Apparently, this year, we will have less number of PPV events in the fall. As per reports from cagesideseats.com, there will be only one PPV event to be hosted in December. It will be the Clash of Champions event returning to the schedule as part of a Smackdown-exclusive show.

WWE has not disclosed the rest of the year’s schedule, yet but it is unlikely that any drastic changes will be made, going forward. Apparently, they might intend to go with the motto, “one brand, one month” when it comes to PPV listings.

This is the reason why we are getting only one PPV from the blue brand in between the time of Summerslam and Survivor Series. So, it is quite evident that the last PPV of the year will be given to Daniel Bryan and Co.
Till date, these are the remaining PPV events till December,

Hell in a Cell-October 8th, Detroit, Michigan (WWE Smackdown)
TLC-October 22nd, Minneapolis, Minnesota (WWE Raw)
Survivor Series-November 19th, Houston, Texas (Dual Brand)
Clash of Champions-December 17th, Boston, Massachusetts (WWE Smackdown)

It is to be noted that the Roadblock event has been withdrawn to the listings, this year. Last year, this PPV turned out to be a debacle with a predictable lineup and results. So, it was expected. Furthermore, for the first time since its invention, the TLC PPV is being hosted in October rather than December.

If this schedule is kept intact, then it’s a fact that the flagship show of Raw will have to stay PPV-less for almost three long months. Next year, the inaugural PPV will be the Royal Rumble one to kick-start the road to Wrestlemania.
