The current Intercontinental Champion, Dean Ambrose was shifted to Monday Night Raw in the Superstar Shakeup. In turn, the blue brand got the United States champion, Kevin Owens.
This was a totally unexpected plan as part of WWE Creative. Everybody expected AJ Styles to be drafted from Smackdown Live but instead, it turned out to be the Lunatic Fringe.
Now, there’s a specific reason why he was moved to Raw. As reported earlier, the creative wanted to keep all three members of the Shield family i.e. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns on the same brand so that a reunion could be planned in the future. Apparently, that will be happening during this year’s end or next year’s beginning.
But first, Ambrose will be given a mammoth task in hand. It was reported in Stillrealtous.com that he is scheduled to take a heel turn in the upcoming summer season. WWE creative wants him to turn into a villain and reignite his feud with his former Shield brethren.
Seth Rollins is the one with whom he will be renewing his rivalry. These two have been bitter rivals since the time the Shield broke up. For the better part of 2014, 2015 and even 2016, Ambrose and Rollins headlined numerous PPVs. Roman Reigns also featured in some of those.
But, the entire dynamic will be changed since Ambrose will be playing a heel in this feud, whereas, Rollins will stick to his ‘Kingslayer’ gimmick.
Rollins will continue his rivalry against Samoa Joe for Payback PPV and go forward for sometimes with it. Ambrose, on the other hand, will square off against The Miz in his first rivalry after coming to Raw. When these two will be done with their respective opponents, they will pick up from just where they left off in 2016.
It is still not clear whether the rivalry will be for the Intercontinental championship or not. Going by the speculations, it should for the mid-card title. The Miz has already won the title on six different occasions in his career including two, last year.
So, he should not pick up yet another IC title reign, so early. Ambrose should continue with his title reigns, therefore until Rollins takes it from him.
