WWE Rumor: Multiple Title Changes Expected At The Hell In A Cell PPV
The Hell in a Cell PPV will take place as part of the Smackdown-exclusive event, for the first time. The blue brand came up with quite a stacked card for the night. There will be two matches to be contested inside the unforgiving steel structure whereas all the titles present on the roster will be on the line.
Plus, the main event will feature two bitter rivals, Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens. The bad blood between the two of them has reached to the most extreme limit, and they will try to tear each other apart inside the Hell in a Cell structure. The fight will go down in the brand new Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan.
As for the title matches, Jinder Mahal will defend the WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura in a rematch from Summerslam. The Women’s Champion, Natalya will renew her rivalry against Charlotte by locking horns, once again.
The United States Championship will be on the line as AJ Styles will be defending it against Baron Corbin. On the other hand, for the first time, the Smackdown tag team championships will be defended inside Hell in a Cell structure between The New Day and The Usos.
According to the reports of Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there will be at least a couple of title switches expected on the PPV night. Based on what transpired on the go-home episode of Smackdown Live before Hell in a Cell, the veteran journalist predicted the same.
As per WWE booking, the champion who looks stronger going to the PPV loses the title. So, Natalya will drop the title to the Queen of the Women’s Division. Charlotte did tap out to Natalya making her the underdog, and the storyline signifies that she has the ‘chip on her shoulder’.
The other title that might change hands is the United States Championship. Baron Corbin is also in a position of nothing to lose after suffering a clean pinfall win against Tye Dillinger. So, he will go over some the odds against AJ Styles and win the US title so that Tye can go after it, going forward.
There’s also a chance of Nakamura winning the WWE title from Jinder Mahal so that the reigning one can win it back during the WWE Live in India. In that case, the modern-day Maharaja will have to stay without the title for a couple of months.
