Going against the previous updates, Alexa Bliss walked into Payback as the favourite to win the Raw women’s championship. Almost every betting odds suggested that she will come out of the PPV with the title. Although it was Bayley’s hometown of San Jose, California, the night turned out to be Bliss’s night.

She defeated the Hugger via a DDT to create history. She became the first woman in the history of the WWE to hold both the Raw and Smackdown women’s championship. The WWE addressed the accolade earned by her with the following excerpts:
“Alexa Bliss catapulted herself into history on Sunday, becoming the first Superstar to win both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championships by defeating Bayley in The Huggable One’s hometown of San Jose, Calif. for the title at Payback PPV.
Bliss has made an undeniable imprint on the Women’s divisions of both brands since being drafted to SmackDown LIVE last July. The Wicked Witch of WWE was the first woman to hold the SmackDown Women’s Title twice and has now cemented herself as a pillar of the division by becoming the first to reign with both the Team Blue and Team Red titles.”
This sort of push was expected for the wicked witch of the WWE since she made a quicker impact upon arriving on Raw. No other woman has the great mic skill that she has. In fact, she was said to be the biggest import from Smackdown Live and this win solidified the fact, once again.
The recent reports suggest that Alexa Bliss was not scheduled to win the match at Payback, originally. Bayley would have come out as the winner retaining the title. She was pitted next to defend her title against Nia Jax before going on to the Summerslam rivalry against Sasha Banks.

But the creative is upset with Nia after she nearly killed Charlotte on Raw by botching moves, twice. This sidelined her from the title picture as well as from WWE TV. So, the Bayley vs. Nia Jax program has been cancelled for now.

Instead, we will continue to see Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss on Raw. The Hugger One will soon recapture the title prior to the summer’s biggest event to head towards the much-anticipated program between her and Sasha Banks. For now, the “five feet of fury” would continue to brag about the biggest win of her career.
