The Shield is perhaps the most dominant faction in the history of the WWE. Debuting in the year 2012 Survivor Series, the Shield took the WWE Universe by storm. Primarily they were brought into the picture to defend the then WWE champion, CM Punk. However, they earned so much popularity that soon they were given the championship belts.
All of the superstars including Cena, The Rock, Undertaker and more were the victims of the Hounds of Justice. Soon, they were turned to babyface to square off against the COO of the company, Triple H, and his reunited, Evolution.
However, on the very next day they earned a clean sweep against the Evolution, the day when we thought they are going to be on the top of the mountain, Seth Rollins turned on his brethren by hitting them with a steel chair. It marked one of the most shocking backstabbing incidents in the WWE history.
More than two years have passed by since then and every time we see Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns inside the squared circle, we wish they would have been together. Going by the rumor mill, we might have a Shield reunion on the cards, very soon.
All three of them are currently booked to work babyfaces which are a good indication of thing to coming. We might be getting the much-anticipated reunion in this year’s Survivor Series PPV or next year’s Royal Rumble PPV.
Triple H is supposed to return to WWE TV taping on a full-time basis to continue his vendetta against Reigns and Rollins. He will bring a certain backup in form of Kevin Owens and perhaps more. The Shield is supposed to be back together to stand against Triple H’s evil games, just like they did back against The Evolution. However, it’s yet to see how they are going to be back in the storyline since Ambrose has been headed to Smackdown Live.
