Kurt Angle returned to the in-ring action as part of the TLC PPV main event in October. The original planning was that The Shield would take on the team of The Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, Braun Strowman and Kane. But, Roman Reigns fell ill forcing the former Olympic Gold Medalist to get back into in-ring competition.
It was thought to be a one-off affair for the legendary performer on an emergency basis. So, until the Wrestlemania season comes up, we did not expect him to see in another match. Proving that wrong, Kurt Angle was named as the team captain for the Raw brand which means he will be involved in the traditional tag team elimination matchup at the last dual brand PPV of 2017.
Quite interestingly, this is reportedly a setup for a huge match angle for the next Wrestlemania. Stephanie McMahon returned and forced him to be involved in the Survivor Series matchup which is said to be the beginning of his rivalry against the McMahons especially considering that his job is on the line.
So, if reports from cagesideseats.com are to be believed, then the initial build-up for a matchup between Kurt Angle and Triple H at Wrestlemania has begun with the return of Stephanie onto the scene. With his rift with Stephanie to go on shortly, it only seems obvious that at one point, Triple H is bound to enter the scene. Check out the comments from the source,

Both of these men are wrestling legends and working in the industry for a long time. Back in the Attitude Era, they had one of the best rivalries of all time involving Stephanie McMahon, as well. Apparently, that triangle might get regenerated on WWE TV, at some point. All of these are speculations, at this point.
It is going to be a money match for the company, as these two veterans will tear the house down at the show of shows. Previously, they had shared ring at Wrestlemania 18. Thus, a reincarnation of a historic rivalry might culminate at the showcase of immortals.
