There’s a long history between Eric Rowan and Luke Harper. Both these behemoths appeared in the WWE as part of the Wyatt Family. They acted as the loyal disciples of Bray Wyatt by helping him in countless matches.
The association was torn a bit after Eric Rowan disjoined himself from the Wyatt flock in 2014. However, they were back together, sooner by acting as a tag team. On Smackdown Live, they turned out to be the strongest faction once the brand split took place, last year.
The reunion did not long last long as a conflict between Bray Wyatt and Harper brewed over the fact that Randy Orton joined the family. This made him separated from the family turning him into a babyface. The transformation happened just prior to the Wrestlemania 33.
Now that Wyatt has moved to Monday Night Raw, there were some speculations over their future. Since they are possessing an opposite character, an inevitable feud was bound to come. However, that did not happen due to lack of planning.
Rather, we have seen a series of singles matches between them without any storyline, whatsoever. The same bout took place on this week’s Smackdown Live but no indication was given around their future.

The recent reports from Cagesideseats.com suggested that WWE creative might be finally giving them the attention they need. This is the reason that a match is about to be made official for the Backlash PPV. Eric Rowan will take on Luke Harper in a singles contest in the event. The PPV is scheduled to take place on May 21st. This will mark the first PPV from Smackdown Live after Wrestlemania.
It is doubtful though whether enough hype around this bout would be created or not. These two were off from WWE TV for a few weeks after Wrestlemania. Hence, no build up was done with their rivalry. So, the contest might be declared for the kick-off show.
It is doubtful, whether this lacklustre storyline would be drawn forward. Rather, they will become handy if teamed up together. There is already a lack of members in the Smackdown tag team division. So, they can be a great addition to the division. They are tested veterans and can be successful if teaming up.
