The returning John Cena will headline the upcoming edition of WWE Raw. He is a free agent declared by the WWE by which he can swipe brands, as per the availability.
So, after appearing for a one-off night for Smackdown at the Survivor Series PPV, he will be back to perform on behalf of the flagship show. It also raises a question about the potential role of the franchise player on the show.
WWE.com is trying to hype-up the return of the 16-time world champion in a big way with a promise that we will remember the Christmas night, for a long time,

Indeed, after fighting for SmackDown LIVE at Survivor Series, John Cena returns to Team Red for a special Christmas celebration in Chicago, the city in which he made his WWE debut against Kurt Angle back in 2002. Given his history in the Windy City, the 16-time World Champion will no doubt make this a Christmas to remember.”
It is to be noted that this upcoming episode of WWE Raw is getting hosted on the night of Christmas which means the crowd would expect something special from the WWE officials. Plus, with the infamous All-State Arena being the host of the show, it is certain that John Cena should be involved in a bigger capacity to keep the crowd vocal.
According to the reports of thesportrush.com, the Chicago crowd will witness a ‘once in a lifetime’ match between John Cena and Roman Reigns. It is going to be a rematch between these two from the No Mercy PPV. Also, this time around, the match would be contested for the Intercontinental Championship.
It is also to be noted that the other franchise player and the current IC champion, Roman Reigns was also absent from last week’s WWE Raw. So, this episode will mark a comeback for both of them on the flagship show. WWE officials are going to capitalise on this and try to deliver a battle between these two big names.
