The WWE Universe was surprised to witness the great rivalry between John Cena and Roman Reigns kicking off, out of nowhere just after the Summerslam PPV.
A feud with such a huge stake where the company’s franchise players are involved is supposedly suitable for a Wrestlemania main event. But, it will be showcased in a smaller event like No Mercy on September 24th.
As per the previous updates, this feud will help to keep the TV ratings intact for WWE Raw. During this particular time, the company has to deal with the ratings since the NFL season kick-start. With these two prime babyfaces of the company colliding with each other, the show will get a bigger boost.
Plus, it will also help to sell out the No Mercy PPV that will be hosted in the City of Angels. The company wants to make it a sell-out event with the help of the Universal Championship match between Lesnar and Strowman. Plus, there will be this particular match between Cena and Reigns that will be able to glue the audience to stick around the TV screen.
Apart from these reasons, Wrestling Observer declared another big reason behind this feud. As per the recent backstage updates, the officials want Roman Reigns to be the true cornerstone of the company once this feud concludes. So, they just want the Cenation Leader to put over the Roman Empire by the end of this rivalry.
Primarily, it is being speculated that it is going to be a stretched feud between these two which will culminate a Wrestlemania match, next year. Whether it happens or not, Reigns is still a favourite one to win the No Mercy contest against John Cena.
In case he does end up losing, it is guaranteed that there will be a rematch. So, the storyline will be built up in a way where it favours The Big Dog in a long-term basis. It is also being speculated that The Undertaker might interfere in this match to set up a rematch with Reigns. We would get a clear picture once No Mercy arrives, finally.
