WWE Rumour: Summerslam Main Event Has Not Been Finalized Yet 1

As per the earlier reports, WWE might be heading towards a Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman match for the main event of this year’s Summerslam. The latter one has just returned to the scene from a major shoulder injury. But, despite being a heel the crowd is always backing him up since he is constantly attacking Roman Reigns. With him naturally being over with the crowd, this might be the best time to pit him against Brock Lesnar.

In addition to this, the fans have always wanted to see this match between these two goliaths. In fact, the Mountain among Men might be one smart choice to dethrone the beast incarnate from his championship reign. But, there’s no surety whether this dream bout might happen at the biggest event of the summer.

The latest reports from Wrestling Observer dictated that the creative planning around Wrestlemania and Summerslam keeps on changing depending on the situation. So, there’s still no confirmation about the upcoming bout.

The source stated that the original main event of Wrestlemania 34 featuring Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns might get shifted to Summerslam due to the TV rating problems. The beast incarnate will not make regular appearances on Raw if his title reign continues which is one big constraint while pulling up the ratings.

In contrast, if Roman Reigns picked up the title then he will appear on the flagship show, every week which is the best for ratings. As an example, the ratings hit a record low in the episode where the Big Dog was absent, three weeks ago. For the two back-to-back weeks, his confrontations with Braun Strowman helped the ratings to climb up.
So, for now, Reigns vs. Lesnar stands a bigger chance at Summerslam. This what the source has stated regarding the issue:

“The idea could be to pull the trigger on the Reigns title win early, so they would have the Universal champion as a regular on Raw television and house shows. Or it could be part of a story they want to tell where Reigns doesn’t win now and builds to a Mania win. But normally, WWE doesn’t put the planned Mania match on PPV before Mania.”

Apart from this, the writers might also plan for a fatal-4-way title match, as well depending on the situations. In this case, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor will be included in the championship scenarios following the Great Balls of Fire PPV.
