There have been a lot of speculations about WWE’s televised shows, in recent times. The weekly episodes currently run on the USA Network. WWE Monday Night Raw comes live on Monday nights and Smackdown Live is aired on the very next night. Both the shows have the 8:00 PM schedule.
USA Network belongs to the NBC Universal. This company has a deal with the WWE – to broadcast the live TV shows until the beginning of 2019.
Moreover, Raw and Smackdown Live is the first and second longest weekly running televised episodes in the history. They emerge as the biggest products coming out on the network.
Previous updates suggested that NBC has renewed the contract for WWE Raw. It is not a confirmed fact, though.
The biggest pro-wrestling promotion in the world is yet to announce the same officially.
So, this is just a rumor, at this point. Depending on this, there are still chances available that both these shows might change platform.
Dave Meltzer discussed the same on Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He confirmed that USA Network does have any other show such powerful as WWE Raw.
But, they are still thinking of replacing this program with another similar product. Perhaps, they might come up with another wrestling show.
This brings us to the burning speculations that Fox Network is buying the rights for both Raw and Smackdown Live.
Furthermore, they have made some of the slots empty, recently. This ought to be an indication of the near future. They might be actually freeing up space to make way for WWE’s weekly programming.
USA Network will probably move forward to own one of the WWE’s rival brand’s show. Check out the updated from the source, (courtesy SportsKeeda.com)
“Meltzer talked about USA Network possibly approaching Impact Wrestling, and that Impact would ‘love to’ be associated with the Network. Their current contract with PopTV is not worth as much as the $1 Million contract which USA Network might offer them.”
Impact Wrestling promotion will be the ultimate gainer from this deal. They got some major headaches in recent times over TV rights.
Getting the USA Network as their broadcaster will be a huge boost to their programming. All of these are speculations for now.
Both Raw and Smackdown Live will continue to run on the current host network for rest of the year 2018.
