Samoa Joe was pitted to compete in a singles contest on a recent edition of Monday Night Raw against Rhyno. Going as vicious as he possibly can be, he demolished the man-beast with all his pendant maneuvers before choking the former tag team champion out in the middle of the ring.

What went unnoticed during this time was a serious concussion suffered on his knees.

Following the match, he cut a promo to officially enter his name for the Royal Rumble match.

Samoa Joe also indicated that John Cena is going to be his next target heading into the prestigious battle royal.

Some of the sources also indicated that this might set up a dream singles match between him and the Cenation Leader at Wrestlemania 34.

However, right after the contest, Joe felt something worn under his feet that forced the WWE doctors to check him and ban him from in-ring competition.

The announcement came all of a sudden which also sidelined him from the first-ever Mixed Match Challenge on Facebook Watch. He was chosen by the WWE fans to be Bayley’s partner in this series.

Initially, it was thought that the injury is a minor one and would require fewer times to recuperate. He was expected to be fit in time for the Wrestlemania season.

However, the latest report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio stated the total opposite confirming that the injury much worse than initial detection.

Joe was immediately pulled off from the Royal Rumble match after this concussion which is why the officials had one less name as the favorites to win the prestigious battle royal match.

Additionally, he is now being removed from a show in March, too which is indeed a bad news for the fans.

“He’s also been replaced on the return to Madison Square Garden in New York City on March 16th. Samoa Joe was originally scheduled to face John Cena and Roman Reigns in a triple threat match, but The Miz will replace Joe.”

Going by this hint, if he can’t return by March, then the creative team will not be able to involve him into a storyline perspective. This will cause him to sit out of the biggest event of the year on a second consecutive year.

Hopefully, we do receive some positive news regarding him while moving towards the Wrestlemania season.
