The professional wrestling career of Sasha Banks has been under speculation since May 2022 after her walkout from the WWE. It was believed that WWE could eventually freeze her contract if she isn’t willing to return to complete her obligations with the company. The situation stayed like that for a long time but now she’s legit free to appear in any other wrestling promotion.

As per an update from WWFOldSchool, Sasha Banks has officially become a Free Agent in the wrestling market, as of yesterday. She is currently rumored to appear at the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 pay-per-view on January 4th, 2023. Previous reports gave updates that WWE couldn’t reach a deal since the veteran superstar was asking for a lot of money.

That won’t be the case in NJPW where she’ll be under a per-appearance deal. According to the reports of Wrestling Observer, Sasha Banks is now the highest-paid wrestler in the company as she is making more money than another WWE Legend Chris Jericho made during his time with the Japan-based promotion in the last few years.

Sasha Banks distanced herself with WWE a long time ago

A long time ago, Sasha Banks removed all traces of her time in WWE from her social media to make it clear she has distanced herself from WWE. While no proper reason was cited by her, the previous reports claimed that she was in disagreement with Vince McMahon over her booking on TV and she was fed up with the decisions of the higher authority. Triple H’s takeover was supposed to create a breaking-the-ice situation but that’s not the case.

Rather, the former WWE Women’s Champion posted the following to hint that she is starting things fresh in her career,

“DON’T BE AFRAID TO START OVER AGAIN. REMEMBER THAT THIS TIME, YOU’RE NOT STARTING FROM SCRATCH, YOU’RE STARTING FROM EXPERIENCE.”
