Coming from a non-professional wrestling background, Aliyah worked hard in order to get opportunities to showcase her skills on TV. With that, she can already claim herself to be a champion after coming to the main roster, earlier this year. She has been in the industry for nearly a decade and now she’s been part of Smackdown Women’s roster. For those who don’t know, she has already created a legacy around herself.
Following her arrival on the main roster as part of the 2021 WWE Draft, Aliyah scored a victory over Natalya in 3.17 seconds which stands as the record for the fastest victory in WWE history, toppling the earlier record of WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. Moving on, she also ended up winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside Raquel Rodriguez.

Within two weeks though, in an episode of Raw, Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship to Dakota Kai and IYO SKY of Damage Control. Since that episode of September 12, Aliyah has been off WWE TV with an undisclosed injury. Since then, Rodriguez has also formed a new makeshift tag team with Shotzi.
This obviously left the fans wondering about the whereabouts of the Mexican Superstar’s earlier tag team partner. Now, in an update provided by the absentee via Instagram, it’s been confirmed that she suffered an injury during that Women’s Tag Team Titles Match, last month where she lost the title alongside Raquel.

Aliyah is uncertain about her WWE return
Aliyah stated that she “doesn’t know what the future holds or when [she’ll] be back,” but does hope to return stronger than ever.
“I have to say my last match was probably one of my most favorite,” Aliyah wrote on Instagram. “And I would like to thank my tag partner Raquel and Damage CTRL And everyone involved. Yes I got injured mid match, however I have this overwhelming gratitude towards the incident because I felt like it pulled out a version of me that I never even knew existed.”
“Keep going!” I remember thinking. “I never get opportunities like this one” another voice in my head screamed. So idc I’m going to keep going and keep showing out. The emotions and energy I was feeling in the moment truly lit me up inside and I felt INDESTRUCTIBLE in that moment (yes, with an elevated first rib and ac sprain and all.)”
With a women’s WarGames match confirmed for November’s Survivor Series premium live event, WWE will need more names into the fray and Aliyah could be reintroduced around then. Damage CTRL is likely performing as a team inside that cage structure during the Survivor Series weekend in November.
According to Dave Meltzer in a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Alyiah’s injury is “not considered to be a serious one” and she’s expected back to TV, shortly. WWE briefly mentioned the injury on TV but no further details about the same were disclosed.
