Multiple WWE Raw and WWE Smackdown events were previously announced as part of WWE’s summer 2023 schedule. Now, interestingly, WWE Hall of Famer Edge has officially been added to the August 18th blue brand episode at the Scotia Bank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada which serves as the hometown for him.

Last year, during a WWE Raw episode in Toronto, Edge teased retirement that he’ll have his final match right in front of his hometown fans when WWE comes back to Toronto in 2023. Now that the official date and partial lineup featuring him for WWE Smackdown is set, it’s probably safe to assume that the upcoming night could mark the end of his legendary career.

The Master Manipulator Edge was drafted to WWE SmackDown during this year’s draft, but he hasn’t been a regular feature on the blue brand. He ended up losing a first-round match in the tournament to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion in the post-Backlash edition. The belief is that he will next be back on TV in the summer of 2023 for having one final run in his WWE career.

There’s no confirmed update on Edge’s WWE Smackdown return

Notably, Edge is being advertised to appear on the August 18 episode of WWE Smackdown which doesn’t necessarily mean that he will return on that night, only. However, there is no word on whether or not he will be appearing in the time between now and August 18. Before that episode, WWE has its summertime event WWE SummerSlam scheduled on August 5, and Edge has been a regular attendee of the show since 2021.

More than three years ago, Edge shocked the professional wrestling universe by coming out of retirement in 2020 by entering the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Some might believe that’s been perhaps the greatest return of all time in the history of the WWE. Since then, he had delivered great matches with the likes of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, The Miz, AJ Styles, and more.

During this ongoing stint, the Rated-R Superstar delivered several memorable matches as part of both the WWE Raw and WWE Smackdown roster over the past couple of years. As of now, there’s no update on how his final TV storyline could turn out in the 2023 summer.
