Last month, Edge celebrated his 25th anniversary on WWE SmackDown in his hometown of Toronto. The occasion appeared to be even more special as the WWE Hall of Famer was having the final match of his contract with the company. He admitted the fact heading into the show after which speculations started running rampant that he was done with the company.
All Elite Wrestling was also said to be involved in the situation as they reportedly offered a big fat contract to the WWE veteran. However, WWE has now indirectly confirmed Edge’s status and they wanted to inform that the Rated-R Superstar isn’t going anywhere.
A new intro for WWE SmackDown was unveiled this week where Edge was prominently featured alongside other top names like Roman Reigns or even John Cena due to his latest return to the blue brand. This is the first time the intro was updated this year where the late Bray Wyatt and Hit Row were removed but Edge was retained which supposedly hints at a return in due course.

WWE Smackdown: Edge to return for one final stint
During the 25th-year anniversary celebration on WWE Smackdown, Edge wrestled Sheamus for the first time ever and won the match after hitting a Spear on the former WWE Champion. After the show, Edge appeared in a promo to reflect more on his career and noted how this was the last-ever match in front of all his hometown fans which indicated an imminent retirement from the WWE.
As the speculations were on, thereafter, Edge dropped a video on Twitter to address that WWE will always be his dream gig and that there’s no conflict between the two sides. He also confirmed that a contract renewal option was sitting in his mailbox but it was him who wasn’t sure what to do with it.
Now that the latest WWE Smackdown vignette is out featuring Edge, it’s safe to assume that he will be there on Friday nights when the time is right. The updated video features all the full-time or mainstay names from WWE’s second flagship show and Edge is there for a reason. At this point, there’s no update on what WWE could be having in store for a big return for the 11-time world champion.
