Proving the rumors true, Charlotte Flair is back on WWE Smackdown before you could think and she is going straight for the championship. Interestingly, there’s no more of a red or blue brand Women’s Title, present, any more and rather she will be going after the reintroduced WWE Women’s Championship within a few weeks from now.
As seen on WWE Smackdown June 9 episode, WWE Official Adam Pearce presented Asuka with a brand new WWE Women’s Championship belt, replacing the Raw Women’s Championship which she won from Bianca Belair at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on May 28.

As Pearce was placing the belt around Asuka’s waist, a familiar soundtrack played on the music system as Flair made her way to the ring. The returning queen informed Pearce that she had no intention of waiting in line for a title shot and she challenged Asuka to a championship match, straight-up. The champion also had no intention of backing down and the challenge was immediately accepted. Hence, the match was made official for the June 30 episode of WWE Smackdown.
Charlotte Flair returns on June 9 WWE Smackdown for the first time since Wrestlemania 39
This appearance marked Charlotte Flair’s return to WWE programming following a two-month time off. She was last seen on TV at Wrestlemania 39 where she ended up losing the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship to Rhea Ripley. She reportedly went into a hiatus for fulfilling some of her bodybuilding aspirations although no official statement was out about it.
Now on WWE Smackdown, the top feud for the Women’s Title will feature Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair. The two already share an illustrious history on WWE TV over the past several years. Previously these two have competed in three televised championship singles matches with Flair currently holding a 2-1 advantage. These two have also collided for the blue brand women’s title at the grandest stage of Wrestlemania 34.
Overall, there have been 11 singles matches between the two of them with the score being 6-5 in Flair’s favor. Time will tell whether Asuka can settle the score within three weeks on WWE Smackdown in another big bout. Meanwhile, Bianca Belair is also gunning for a rematch for the title after Asuka spat her green mist to win the title at Night of Champions. This also teases a triple-threat match to be set up down the line.
