As reported following this past episode of WWE Smackdown, Big E ended up suffering a legitimate injury after a botched move from his opponent. It’s a neck injury that must have sidelined him from action for at least a few weeks. Plus, plans of a Wrestlemania match are also in jeopardy after it’s confirmed that he’s dealing with a broken neck.
Big E suffered a broken neck during a tag team match on WWE Smackdown. The match lineup featured Kofi Kingston and E vs. Ridge Holland and Sheamus. There was a spot during the match where Holland tossed E at ringside with a belly-to-belly suplex. E landed on his head instead of his back. Medics came over and stretchered E out of the arena while Kingston digested the pinfall loss.
Wrestlemania 38: Big Match Cancelled Due To Injury On WWE Smackdown?
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com reports that “several” members of WWE Smackdown roster came to visit E in the hospital. Ridge Holland was obviously one of them who was present to check on the former WWE Champion,
“Ridge Holland visited Big E in the hospital to check on him last night. Several members of the roster also joined. Big E is a beloved fella.”
WWE Smackdown star to miss 6-8 weeks
In more updates to the injury situation, the injured WWE Smackdown superstar himself took to Twitter to post a new video and give insight into the extent of his neck injury.
“So, I got some really good news, uh, all things considered,” Big E stated. “The C1 and C6 are indeed fractured, not displacement though which is a very good thing. And I don’t have any damage to my spinal cord, no ligament damage, and no surgery which I’m very thankful for.”
It was a good thing for E since he broke his neck in Birmingham, Alabama which was the host city of this past edition of WWE Smackdown. Most of the bone injuries of the WWE Superstars are referred to the medical facility available in this city. E has already received proper treatment for the broken neck in a quick time.
The New Day star has also thanked all his fellow WWE Smackdown roster members and beyond since prayers poured in following the injury. At this point, it’s been touted that a neck injury takes 4-8 weeks to recover. Hence, it’s certain that E won’t be able to make his way to Wrestlemania 38.
