This week, WWE Smackdown will continue the builds around the Money in the Bank 2023 premium live event. As announced by the WWE in the latest, two of the participants of the already confirmed women’s Money in the Bank ladder match will be engaged in a fresh bout to gain the upper hand, heading into the bout.
With the gimmick-based PLE approaching closer, everyone in the WWE women’s division is rooting for the chance to win the contract that will guarantee them to earn a future championship opportunity either for the Women’s Championship on WWE Smackdown or the Women’s World Championship on Raw as per the winner’s choice over a calendar year.

According to the confirmation received from WWE.com, it will be faction warfare on this week’s WWE Smackdown when Zelina Vega of the Latino World Order will be taking on Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY,
“As made official on SmackDown LowDown, The LWO’s Zelina Vega will take on Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY next week. Both Vega and SKY earned their slots in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, as did Damage CTRL’s Bayley. Who will earn a monumental win before the career-altering match? WWE NXT: Two Stacked Episodes Announced For June 20 And June 27
With this announcement, WWE Smackdown will mark the first time that these two women will compete in a WWE ring. The “Genius of the Sky” and “La Muñeca” battling it out for their pride should be a special attraction to the show scheduled from Lexington, Kentucky, this week.
Interestingly, both these women participated at this year’s Backlash PLE as challengers and came up short. While SKY was unable to win the WWE Raw Women’s Title from Bianca Belair, Vega lost to Rhea Ripley in a match over the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship.
Now, both these ladies from WWE Smackdown have solidified their spots at the Money in the Bank ladder match set for July 1. Becky Lynch, Zoey Stark, Bayley, IYO SKY, and Zelina Vega have earned their spots so far in the match by winning their scheduled qualifiers. Only one spot remains to be filled from the Raw women’s division. But before that, an entertaining bout is in store for the WWE Universe, this Friday night.
