This week’s episode of SmackDown took place with Roman Reigns competing in the main event match. A massive title change happened on the show. Sasha Banks returned to action whereas Heavyweight Boxer Tyson Fury was in attendance at the show that took place at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.
SmackDown kicked off with King Corbin coming out to address last week’s NXT invasion on the show. He blamed Roman Reigns for it and went ahead to cut a heel promo mocking how his Shield brethren left him. Reigns could not come out to oppose as he was yet to reach the building.
SmackDown Tag Team Champions Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder of The Revival defended their tag team titles against Kofi Kingston and Big E in the opening match. The champs gave a double team draping DDT on E and went for the Shatter Machine. But Kofi hit a missile Drop-kick on them and connected with the Trouble in Paradise to pin Wilder. New Day became a seven-time tag team champions.
Heavy Machinery’s Tucker and Otis arrived on SmackDown to compete in a match. But Imperium from NXT UK – WWE UK Champion WALTER, Marcel Barthel, Fabian Aichner and Alexander Wolfe appeared out of nowhere to beat the hell out of him. The New Day, Apollo Crews, Ali, and Shorty G came out to make the save as they NXT UK members had to retreat through the crowd.
Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro vs. Ali and Shorty G was the next tag team matchup on SmackDown. Sami Zayn and Daniel Bryan were present at ringside to support the two respective teams. Nakamura caught Ali with a reverse exploder Suplex. Ali countered a knee attempt by Nakamura as Zayn distracted him by standing on the ring apron. Nakamura then connected with the Kinshasa on Ali to pick up the win.
Sasha Banks returned to action on SmackDown against Nikki Cross with the Women’s Champion Bayley watching her back. Banks took advantage through Bayley’s distractions and locked in the Bank Statement to pick up the submission win. After the match, NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler rushed to the ring to attack Bayley. Banks tried to make the save but Shayna escaped through the crowd.
Sami Zayn was talking to Daniel Bryan asking him to join the team of himself and Nakamura. The lights suddenly went out and WWE Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt appeared behind Bryan’s back. He took out Bryan applying the Mandible Claw.
Tyson Fury appeared on SmackDown as the fans greeted him in huge cheers from the crowd. He plugged in his next fight with Deontay Wilder in February. Braun Strowman interrupted him and wished to team up with him, someday. The B Team, Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas came out to confront them and get beaten up. Fury dropped Dallas with a big right hand whereas Strowman planted Axel with the Running Powerslam.
Carmella and Dana Brooke vs. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville was the next matchup on SmackDown. The winners of the match were about to join Sasha Banks in a women’s team at Survivor Series. Dana sent Deville neck-first into the steel ring steps for a big pop and hit a top rope senton on her to get a big victory.
Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin was the main event of this week’s SmackDown. Roman was in full control of the match delivering a big boot and Superman Punch on Corbin. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode came out to provide distractions for him. Reigns downed Roode with a Superman Punch and hit Ziggler with a Spear. Corbin caught Reigns with the End of Days from behind to pick up the win and close the show.
