The Superstar Shakeup process concluded on last night’s episode of Smackdown Live. This revamped the blue brand roster of the WWE with some big names coming to it from the flagship show. Also, the rivalries over the WWE Championship continued on the show. Here are the happenings from the night hosted by the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
WWE Smackdown Live kicked off with the WWE Champion, AJ Styles talking about the nasty attacks by Shinsuke Nakamura in recent times. While calling out the recently turned heel, he received Rusev in the opening contest of the show. The match was disqualified with Aiden English attacking Styles. Daniel Bryan walked out to the ring to make the save for Styles.
Shelton Benjamin was cutting a promo on Smackdown about losing his partner, Chad Gable. He demanded a solo competition when Jeff Hardy’s music hit. It revealed to be the first draft of the night from WWE Raw. Jeff Hardy picked up a quick win on Benjamin by hitting the Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb.
Jey Uso had a singles contest on Smackdown against Harper. The one-half of the tag champs delivered a clothesline to pick up a quick win. After the match, the two Bludgeons started attacking both the Uso Twins. Naomi ran out begging them to stop as they were about to use their mallets. The Bar and The Club were revealed to be new additions on Smackdown.
Sin Cara was standing inside the ring when Samoa Joe’s music hit as he came out as another recruit from the flagship show. With the minimum resist from Sin Cara, Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch to pick up the win. A strong heel promo followed after the match. At backstage, Big Cass revealed to be another addition on Smackdown.
Carmella was celebrating her title win from last week as Charlotte Flair walked out to cut it short. The Iconic Duo walked out to start a three on one attack on The Queen. Becky Lynch ran out to make the save setting up a singles match between Charlotte and Billie Kay.
The second-nature won the match by locking in the Figure-eight on Billie. After the match, the three of them went right after Charlotte and Becky. As the number games started to catch up, Asuka ran out to make the save. She is the new addition to the Smackdown locker room.
In the main event of Smackdown Live, AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan took on against Rusev and Aiden English. Bryan was in full control of the match with Yes kicks and his running knee when Nakamura came out of nowhere and hit a low blow on Styles. Bryan tried to make the save but ate a big boot from Big Cass. The heels stood tall as the show came to an end.
