Smackdown Live occurred last night with the headliner segment where Daniel Bryan wanted Roman Reigns to apologize. Randy Orton and Charlotte Flair were about to fire back to their respective division’s champions to continue Clash of Champions angles. Also, the last two matches of King of the Ring tournament’s first-round were there when the show aired from the Raising Cane’s River Center Arena in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston opened Smackdown Live as we got to know that he will face Randy Orton for the title at Clash of Champions. He cut a promo on their rivalry mentioning Orton’s cowardly acts. Orton soon appeared on the big screen informing him that he is staying in the same hotel to that of Kofi’s family. Kofi ran towards the backstage and got into a fight with him. Orton stood tall by planting Kofi with a DDT on the floor.

King of the Ring First Round Match between Ali and Buddy Murphy was the opening contest of Smackdown. Murphy took control by taking a big shot on Ali. He continued the offenses delivering a kick and a powerbomb from the top. He followed up with a Kick and Brainbuster but Ali still kicked out. Ali ended up hitting a huge tornado DDT while Murphy is on the apron, draped over the second rope. He landed the 450-splash, next to pick up the win.
Lacey Evans made her comeback on TV on Smackdown stating that she will face Bayley, later the night. The announcers talked about Sami Zayn and the WWE United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura attacking The Miz, last week as we headed into the next match on Smackdown. Sami Zayn was about to compete against The Miz in it that never happened. Zayn distracted Miz with a promo after which Nakamura attacked him from the back. He delivered two Kinshasa moves on Miz to put him down, again.
Lacey Evans competed against SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley to make her in-ring return. She was in control in the early going hitting a slam and unloading Bayley who came back hitting a clothesline. Soon Charlotte Flair appeared on the ramp trying to distract the champ. But Bayley connected with her Bayley-to-belly suplex on two different occasions on Lacey before nailing her with an Elbow Drop to pick up the victory.
Randy Orton competed against one-half of the Smackdown Tag Team Champions Big E, next. E sent Orton to the ring post and launched Orton over the announce table as fans pop. Orton tried to come back raking his opponent’s eye but E hit a clothesline. But he missed a splash attempt on the ring apron as Orton took control. E still blocked an RKO attempt and hit multiple big overhead belly-to-belly suplexes. The Revival ran down to distract him as Orton hit the RKO on him to get the win.

WWE 24/7 Champion Elias was strumming his guitar in the ring insulting the Lousiana crowd when Levin Owens appeared from the back and hit a Stunner on him. R-Truth appeared to win the title but Draka Maverick pulled him out of the ring and pinned Elias to become the new WWE 24/7 Champion.
The last King of the Ring First Round Match was next on Smackdown Shelton Benjamin vs. Chad Gable. Benjamin was in control for most of the match hitting a big German suplex followed by a clothesline. He sent Gable into the barricade after which he tried to come back hitting a moonsault. He missed it but soon rolled up Benjamin to get the win.
Roman Reigns appeared in the main event segment of Smackdown to issue an apology to Daniel Bryan. He showed us a video which focused on the hooded man that looked like Rowan and it was indeed him. Bryan was irate after seeing this and slapped across Rowan’s face over and over. He appeared in the ring to say that he knew nothing about this attack. Reigns caught him with a spear right away as his music played to close the show.
