Last night, Smackdown came up with an interesting episode with a huge main event in-store. The regular qualifying matches for MITB 2018 were there, whereas, a former NXT Champion made a grand debut.
Furthermore, a royal ‘Mellabration’ took place by the women’s champion. Check out the results from the show hosted by the O2 Arena in London England.
Smackdown kicked off with Renee Young interviewing Daniel Bryan. She mentioned him failing to qualify for MITB. Big Cass came out to interrupt saying Brie is the one who wears pant in the Danielson family. An irate Bryan attacked Big Cass onto his surgically repaired knee. The hammering went on until the officials ran out to make the save.
The New Day took on The Bar for a MITB qualifying opportunity. Big E went for the slash, but Sheamus raised his knees to counter it. Later, Big E put him down with a huge spear while he was trying to provide the distraction from the ring apron. Inside the ring, Xavier Woods connected with the big elbow off the top rope to Cesaro to pick up the win.
Carmella had a big Mellabration segment on Smackdown. She went on to say about her greatness before getting interrupted by Paige. She got welcomed with huge chants from the England crowd. The GM declared the next opponent for Carmella at the MITB PPV in the form of Asuka. Mella left the ring once Asuka came down to the ring.
Mandy Rose had a meeting with Paige at the backstage on Smackdown. Since she won a match against Becky Lynch, she claimed to get added to the women’s MITB ladder match. But, the GM announced a triple threat match among Becky Lynch, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. Lynch came out on top by locking in the arm-bar on Mandy.
Andrade Cien Almas made his debut on Smackdown Live with Zeliana Vega. He competed in a match against Jake Constantino.
The former NXT Champion connected with the double knees on the top rope and followed it up with a hammerlock DDT for the win. Vega cut a heel promo towards the UK fans to close the segment.
On the main event of Smackdown Live, AJ Styles squared off against Shinsuke Nakamura. Styles went for the Styles Clash, early but Nakamura escaped.
Styles tried to hit Nakamura with it, yet again in the ring apron. But, Nakamura pretended to be hit by a low blow. While the referee was arguing, Nakamura connected with the Kinshasa for the win. He will now get to choose the stipulation for WWE Title match at MITB.
