The buildups for the Clash of Champions continued on last night’s episode of Smackdown Live. We already had a first-ever main event match between Kevin Owens and Randy Orton on the show. Plus, there was an entertaining two-on-one handicap match featuring AJ Styles. Check out the full results from the night hosted by the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
Smackdown kicked off with Shane McMahon with a huge reaction from the crowd. He was soon joined by Daniel Bryan to discuss their difference of opinions in recent times. Bryan was not happy for not firing Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, last week. However, he liked the idea of tonight’s main event between Owens and Orton and made it a No Disqualification match.
The New Day had a match against Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable. The tag team champions were present at the ringside. Proving that the team of Benjamin-Gable needs to brush up, they suffered yet another loss. Xavier Woods connected with a stomp off the top rope to pick up an easy win over the title contenders.
The Bludgeon Brothers had a match against The Hype Bros on Smackdown Live. It was a rematch of last week. The newly formed tag team picked up another easy win with the double chokeslams. Following the match, Mojo Rawley attacked his partner, Zack Ryder from the back to announce that their tag team is over officially.
Charlotte Flair, Naomi, and Natalya found themselves in a retribution seeking position against the team of Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan. The latter team was named the Riott Squad. During the match, Natalya decided to leave the match and headed to the backstage area, whereas, Naomi was attacked viciously. Ruby connected with a kick to Charlotte to pick up the victory.
AJ Styles had his scheduled matchup against The Singh Brothers. Jinder Mahal was present at the ringside and attacked Styles before the match. However, the WWE Champion was quick to hit the Styles Clash on each of The Singh Brothers to win the match. Afterward, Jinder hit the Khallas on his partners to make a statement.
Bobby Roode had a backstage segment with Baron Corbin. The champion hinted to give Roode a championship opportunity but backed off at the last moment. A segment of Fashion Files was also shown. This time, SAW movie franchise was the theme.
In the main event of Smackdown, Randy Orton locked horns in a No DQ match against Kevin Owens. Sami Zayn got barred from the ringside area. However, at one point, the fight went towards to the ramp area when Zayn came down and hit Orton’s leg with a chair. Owens took full advantage of it and delivered a frog splash off the top rope to pick up the pinfall win.
