The dominance of Smackdown Live over the flagship show continued as the Tuesday Night’s show came up with another blockbuster edition. Last night’s episode was hosted by the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. The fans witnessed the first-ever Smackdown Women’s championship match inside a steel cage. Plus, Jerry Lawler returned with an edition of The King’s Court in his hometown as a special attraction. Here’s what transpired on the show:
Shane O’Mac kicked off the show
Shane McMahon’s music hit to kick off the night on Smackdown. He came up with a big announcement that whoever wins the WWE championship at Royal Rumble will have to defend it at the Elimination Chamber PPV in four weeks from now in Phoenix, Arizona. AJ Styles showed up in the ring saying that McMahon is continuing his vendetta against the reigning champ who’ll still be the champion after Rumble. John Cena and the Miz interrupted to heat up the segment. This set up a match between Styles and the Miz as the opening contest of the night.
