Summerslam storylines kicked off on Smackdown Live last night. The male and female championships’ fate was the focal point of the show. Plus there was a huge United States Championship match in-store between two veteran superstars.

Check out the results of the show hosted by the Mohegan Sun Arena, Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Smackdown Live opened with Jeff Hardy who talked about losing the US Championship. He pointed out to the low blow given by Nakamura is the only reason behind losing the title. Tonight, he seeks retribution against the heel one. Nakamura also cut a promo at backstage about the main event match later the night.

AJ Styles hit the ring to have a first-time match on Smackdown Live. Andrade Cien Almas was his opponent creating a solid matchup. Styles was in control of the contest and went for a top rope suplex. Almas tripped him off the rope and gave a double stomp. AJ countered a La Sombra and locked in the Calf Crusher to pick up a win via submission.

Becky Lynch had a contest on Smackdown against Mandy Rose. Rose tried hard to come up with the win with different offences. But Becky kicked out of a drop-kick and countered it with a dis-arm-her for the win. Becky also threw a challenge to Carmella for her title. Paige announced a non-title match between the two for next week.

Samoe Joe took on Tye Dillinger in a singles contest. It was a short match where Samoa gave a kick on Tye before locking in the Coquina Clutch for the win. Kofi Kingston had a match against Eric Young to continue rivalry against SAnitY. Kofi fell victim to the chaos from SAnitY and a neck-breaker from Young to suffer the pinfall loss.

The Miz hosted a Miz TV in honor of Kane. The Big Red Machine was not present on the show due to the injury from Extreme Rules. So Miz continued to talk trash against the Demon hosting a fake funeral. Pallbearers surrounded the ring. Daniel Bryan heard enough of this and attacked The Miz from behind. The brawl continued until Miz rolled out and leave.

Smackdown witnessed the US title match in the main event. Jeff Hardy was in firm control by hitting the Whisper in the Wind and Twist of Fate. He went to the top rope and connected with the Swanton Bomb. But Randy Orton pulled out Hardy off the ring and delivered an assault. The match got disqualified, and the officials ran out to stop Orton. The Viper left but not before a vicious DDT on the floor to close the show.
