WWE Smackdown Live Preview: December 20, 2016

WWE Smackdown live (December 20) will be hosted by the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Last week, we crowned two No. 1 one contenders for the WWE championship and the Tag Team championship. This was supposed to lead us two big title matches but an unfortunate injury has ruined it. Hence, we can expect a major fall-out on Tuesday’s show. Here’s what to expect:

Dolph Ziggler Will To Gain Some Momentum For Next Week’s Title Match

Dolph Ziggler has gone straight to the main event scene after losing his spot in the IC title picture. He will challenge the WWE champion for his title, next week. This feud is supposed to be just a filler before we get a big championship feud heading into Royal Rumble. AJ Styles is not cleared to compete inside the ring, as of now. Hence, we might not get any physical contact between the two. But, Ziggler will try to gain some momentum with the mic in hand.

Unfinished Business For Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose was screwed by James Ellsworth for consecutive times in the main event and he lost both the WWE & IC title bouts. He still has some unfinished business with the ‘turtle without a shell.’ Ellsworth will not get his due rematch for the WWE championship as of now. Hence, we can expect Ambrose get his payback on Ellsworth on Tuesday. But, the WWE has already announced Ambrose vs. Luke Harper as the main event. So, we might see Ellsworth interfering, again.

The Intercontinental Championship Picture

The Miz does not have any number one contender for his title, as of now. It looks like Dean Ambrose might be granted another opportunity for the title since he got screwed by Ellsworth. On another thought, due to the lack of depth on Smackdown roster, Apollo Crews was seen creating a feud with the A-lister. He also defeated the Miz in a non-title match at the Tribute to the Troops event. Hence, we can expect him being granted for an IC title match.

New No. 1 Contender For The Tag Team Title

Zack Ryder suffered an injury after competing in the battle royal last week. Hence, the Hype Bros are no more the No. 1 contender for the Smackdown Tag Team titles. So, new contenders are expected to be crowned on Tuesday. We can expect The American Alpha to take the spot and start a feud with the Tag Team champs, the Wyatt Family.

Women’s Championship Match

Last week, Smackdown Women’s championship match got canceled due to Alexa Bliss faking a leg injury. She indeed escaped with the title but we are bound to get another title match. Since next week will be the last Smackdown of 2016, we’ll hopefully get to see at least a couple of title matches. The WWE championship match has already been confirmed and the women’s title match is also likely to be confirmed, on Tuesday.
