WWE NXT Superstar LA Knight and former Raw Superstar MACE worked last night’s WWE SmackDown dark segment. This was apparently a tryout for a potential new alliance on the main roster featuring these two superstars. Plus, Knight might end up working as a manager if the group starts functioning.
It was noted back in early April that WWE officials were discussing an early call-up for LA Knight where he would leave NXT to work on either WWE RAW or WWE SmackDown brand. One WWE creative team pitch seems to have wanted Knight to work as a manager on the main roster since he’s pretty over with his mic work. There’s no update on whether his managerial role will be taken forward since he’s a regular in-ring talent.

Then during the WWE SmackDown dark match from the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, Knight acted as the manager to MACE, who defeated Erik of The Viking Raiders. The match ended with MACE delivering a leaping leg lariat to Erik after Knight caused a distraction. The set of actions also hinted at the faction being brought on the main roster as two heels.

In more update, Knight appeared in the ring, wearing a suit and thereby cut a pre-match promo about launching Knight Model Management. His first client was MACE who was wearing a blazer and Air Jordans. There are speculations about Knight Model Management being the name of the faction which may eventually debut on WWE RAW or SmackDown. But nothing is confirmed, as of this writing. It was reported back in January that WWE officials were “very high right now” on Knight. This could be the reason why a post-WrestleMania 38 main roster call-up seemed evident for the superstar. As for MACE, WWE Officials were also reportedly high about MACE, the former RETRIBUTION member. Previously, he went by the name of Dio Maddin who used to be on the commentary booth on Raw.
MACE had been teaming with T-BAR on the RAW brand, but he was picked by WWE SmackDown brand in the WWE Draft last October. As a singles superstar, he competed in one match only and that was the Thanksgiving Battle Royale on November 26.
